Paul Sevigny and “The Shoe” @ Le Bain
Wednesdays @ Le bain, nicknamed “My Favorite Party,” are finally living up to its namesake. Paul Sevigny is joining Wednesday’s resident line-up, Harley/Cassie/Roctakon ( Notorious Partyboyz), to commemorate the premiere of The Shoe. The Shoe might be a so-so production, but it is supposedly the handiwork of graffitist and nightlife aficionado Andre Saraiva (Beatrice Inn, Le Baron, Le Bain), Oliver Zahm (Purple Magazine publisher), and a handful of notable French personalities and downtown darlings. My tidbit for you? Timing will be everything. The party starts at ten, but since the screening ends at 11pm, nobody who’s anybody will be there before 11.30pm—-even midnight. But after that, except the door of Le Bain to buckle under the pressure.
The music will be fun, but the crowd will put PH-D to shame. Olivier Zahm, the co-writer, publishes the most notorious high fashion publication. All other edgy mags owe much to Purple, particularly I.D. and W.
The film is being covered by NOWNESS, the official blog of LVMH. Muted colors reminiscent of early Purple Magazine, filmed during a Parisian winter. It pays homage to 6os film giants and Saul Bass. The concept is simplistic—-“The film is about a character very close to any young french guy who likes to flirt with girls in Paris” (Olivier Zahm), who steals a pair of loafers: the highly coveted J. M. Westons.
